Great day 0n the lake today with Larry and Joey. We slammed the pike as seen in the pictures posted by Joey, However he failed to mentioned that Larry claimed to have on a huge with a drop shot rig. The fish though some how decided to break off and leave the hook but broke the weights off the rig. HMMM. Fish or Giant ROCK bass, Who knows. The absolute highlight of the trip though was when a guy wearing a black robe and a GOLD and RED VELVET CROWN walks out of his house on a cell phone and talks for twenty minutes on shore in front of us. Yes i Said a CROWN. Absolutley hilarious. All and all a great day with the guys. Keep tight lines and let the killing begin!

Went fishing with Larry and Adam on Conesus Lake today. We got on the lake about 8:30A.M. and had very little luck until 11:00 or so. We were primarily fishing for bass (smallmouth and largemouth), but ended up really getting into the pike. We finished up the day catching about twenty pike on the south end of the lake. We caught them all on spinnerbaits. The two in the pictures were the biggest ones landed (32"-35"). I lost two at the boat that would have gone 40" plus. All in all it was a fun day. No decent bass, but tons of big pike, good company, and great weather.
Goose season starts Friday, I'm psyched!!!

What a fishing day I had on Silver Lake today. Last night I went out with Jocelyn for an hour or so in the late afternoon. She caught a perch, but I didn't catch anything. I did however break off on fish two times, so I knew there were some nice fish around. I went out fishing with Mr. Baker this morning from 7:30-11:30. The fishing started out really slow. By 10:00 we had only caught a couple of decent bass. So we left our usual go to spots (flower garden and east side weed hole) and started searching for fish. We found a few fish about halfway up the lake on the western shore, just before the country club. There we caught several decent fish each in about forty-five minutes. That's where Mr. Baker caught the fish in the picture. We decided we would call it a day after making a few casts right in front of his house (east side halfway up the lake). Anyway, on my second cast in front of his house I caught the monster in the pictures. It was 22" (measured) and would go about five and a half pounds (estimated by Baker). Probably the biggest bass I have ever caught. I almost kept it for mounting, but decided to let it go and breed. We ended up catching several more fish in the next few minutes before calling it a day. Overall, it was a great day: many big bluegills, several nice perch, about fifteen good bass, and a monster largemouth. All fish came on texas rigged live worms. I broke off five times on good fish in the last two days. I definitely will re-spool with eight pound test before heading out again, but the big fish are biting.

Can I start fishing and hunting now?

All right, so this is what a fishing trip picture looks like after last night. No, we did not join Mike Iconelli on the Potomic River. Joe, Nathan and I took Elle Mae down to Silver Lake to try to capitalize on the passing front. Seemingly, the 4 days of rest the lake had from the joy-ride boaters and the passing front was suppose to make for emaculate fishing. It turns out though, that the fishing was quite lousy. On the other hand, perhaps the fishing was tremendous and we were lousy fisherman. I always wonder during times like last night, are we that boat that when asked "hows the fishing" says a little slow or not that great only to have the other anglers asking laugh histericaly at us under their breathe because they are slamming the bass and cant imagine how it is even feasible that we are having a slow night? On Saturday morning, Joe and I were certainly the latter. 50 some fish in only a few hours while others were reportedly not catching much or having a slow day. It only seems right that the tables would turn. Last night we caught an outstanding 5 bass and 3 bluegills from 630pm to Dark (9-ish). Which means in my case, it cost me approximatly $4.00 per bass just to make the drive! All in all, we had a great time. We rarely get to fish with Spooty and the cooler of happiness definitely added to the trips enjoyment. Maybe next time we will catch a few fish too. Im still not overly convinced that Spooty isnt bad luck when fishing.

Went fishing with my brother Matt on Silver Lake yesterday. We fished from 5:00-5:45 P.M. Then Matt got hungry, and tired, and a mild case of pansy-itis set in. Anyway, we fished from Mr. Baker's boat and hit the west side of the lake by the flower garden. I caught four bass (not bad for forty-five minutes). The one in the picture was my baby though. Nineteen and a half inches and just over four pounds. Not bad at all. Caught him on my last cast with a live nightcrawler. The rest of the bass came on green sparkled Yamoto worms. Play hard, fish harder, hunt hardest!

Went fishing on Silver Lake yesterday (Sunday) with Adam and Nicole. It was a nice day (85 degrees) and there were a ridiculous number of boats out on the lake. We fished from 3:00-6:00. It was an uphill battle the whole way fighting the wake from other boats. I ended up catching seven bass, Adam got a few, and Nicole caught one. Check out the great picture of Nicole and Adam with Nicole's bass. She caught it on a Yamoto worm (black and red). My fish all came on a speckled green rubber worm. Overall it was a hard day fishing. Too many boats around. I'll get out later this week when the lake has had a chance to calm down. Until then: Play hard, fish harder, hunt hardest!

Larry and I had a great morning fishing Silver Lake today. We took it easy, and didn't get on the lake until 8:45 or so. We fished from Larry's boat. From the launch we fished up the west side of the lake with some success. I didn't have any night crawlers, so I was fishing with Yamoto worms (mostly speckled green). Larry was drop-shotting. We fished the weedline (15-18 fow) the whole morning. We switched sides and fished the east side of the lake for about an hour. Both sides produced equally well. We caught a ton (30-40) of bass, two walleye, and a huge crappie. Check out the pictures. Brought home one huge walleye (6lbs), the crappie, and a three pound bass for a dinner. Overall, a very successful morning fishing. The best part is that we were off the lake around 12:00. Three hours of fishing, a ton of fish caught, and good company. That's what it's all about boys. Play hard, fish harder, hunt hardest!

Took my little lady (Brilyn, not Jocelyn) serious fishing today for the first time. She rode on my back in our super-duper baby backpack thingy. We went creek walking in Spring Creek (a tributary to Oatka Creek). Brilyn was my navigator and fish locator. Check out those nice fish locator glasses Brilyn is wearing in the pictures. Unfortunately, she fell asleep about half way through our trip and, being unable to spot the trout myself, I stopped catching fish. Overall it was a very successful day. I caught six beautiful brown trout, Brilyn caught a nice nap, and Jocelyn caught a break from me and baby. All the trout came on small worm pieces. I wish I had waxworms with me today. There were a ton of trout around, but they were very spooky. Light line and small offerings my friend. Fished about one and a half hours. Tons of fun. Come join me anytime!

Larry, that picture is terrible. You've got to fire your photographer. Or at least get a nice digital camera like mine (haha). Anyway, nice buck. I really like that non-typical buck picture you posted. Pretty ridiculous. I haven't been fishing for awhile. Last time I went was with Larry. We went down to Silver Lake two Sundays ago. I caught some foolish sized bluegills (which I didn't keep, like an idiot), but that was about it. Bass were doing nothing. I hear they have been getting a few walleye, but we didn't get any. Larry, as usual, threw everything in his box to no avail. Let's hope they start biting soon. I heard Silver is turning over this week. That could really improve the fishing (it often does) after everything settles down. Here are a couple of pictures of bass I caught last spring. Thought they might get us pumped up for summer bassin'. Larry seems to already be on a deer hunting kick. I try to stay away from that until at least August. Larry, make sure you email this site to your dad and brothers and have them register to post. The more, the merrier. And yes, this site will definitely lead to fishing and hunting competitions. I'm looking forward to it already.

Potential Contest Winner

This is not the greatest picture in the world, but it still shows this years buck. This is a 9 point that scored 105. Pretty buck. I shot him the 3rd week in archery season in the evening. I was hunting the east side of letchworth near the beaver dam. I had picked out a tree late in the summer, but once I got to the stand, i found that the tree was definitely not going to work. Shortly after, i found another tree, smaller, with no necessary trim work needed. I got into my tree, about an hour later than i would have liked. I was sweaty from the work and felt completely out of any chance of seeing a deer. It was about 55, windy, and i had been making enough rukess to scare anything close by away. I got into my tree, started chewing on a stick, and playing around with my range finder and binoculars - again, completely believing that i had wasted my time that evening. Minutes later, i saw a big deer about 80 yards away across the ditch. I spied his antlers through my binoculars and blew a couple of grunts to him. He stopped dead in his tracks. I gave him a few seconds and gave him another grunt series angling the tube away from him to throw the side a little. He came barreling towards me. I stood up, grabbed my bow, put on my release, and he was literally 10 yards under my tree looking up at me while i was in half draw. I froze mid draw for 15 seconds until he knodded to the ground. It was enough for me to get my bow back. He looked back at me as the arrow sizzled by his left eye and down into his vitals - perfect shot. I watched him crumble about 60 yards away, right where he came from. One of my best bucks to date and definitely my best bow buck.

I know this blog will be a lot of fun, as long as we all keep faithful to it!!

What's up boys. Joe thanks for setting this up. It will be a lot of fun. I will be spending as much time as possible fishing the lake this summer and trying my best to catch some quality trout, salmon, and bass. The kings and the steelhead are starting to turn on and they are bigger than recent years so watch out for thirty pound plus kings this fall. Here is a picture of a beautiful atlantic salmon that my wife Carolynne recently caught out on lake ontario.

Here it is boys. Our own fishing and hunting blog. A place where we can share memories, fishing/hunting trips, stories, pictures, etc. It should be a lot of fun. I am just learning how to work with this "blog" thing, so please bear with me. Since this is my first post, I will try to keep it short and to the point. I guess the way I would like to do this is that each of us (Joe, Jocelyn, Larry, Adam, Scott, Nate, Craig, Mr. Baker, Mr. Rebisz, Mr. Moore, etc.) will have the ability to post on this site. That means any of us (list can be expanded of course) can post pictures or stories about our hunting and fishing trips. I think it will be a great way to keep in touch with each other and keep up to date on hunting/fishing conditions. Anyway, I will try to register you guys as individuals who can post to the blog. If I have your e-mail, I believe that is all I need to register you (I may be wrong). I'll be in touch to let you know. I added a picture I thought would be appropriate to kick off our new blog.
