How does everyone feel about people hunting in fenced in enclosures? I personally don't agree with it. I am sick of turning on the hunting channel and seeing Keith Warren and a few others, hunting a high fence area were there are 20 bucks standing over a feeder 50 yards away while hunting them with a rifle. I don't feel that this is real hunting no matter how big the pen is. I feel that the people hunting like that have lost touch with what hunting is all about. And all they care about is a huge rack, and have no respect for that animal. That is just my opinion, please share your thoughts.

I think that guys who shoot fenced in deer and like guys who try and pick up girls at clubs and bars. They can't handle the task out in the wild, on their own, so they need a place where they're all contained and consequently they're easier to find and catch.
There's that similarity, and the fact that both of them are usually only concerned about big racks.
That's how I feel about the whole thing.
Texas is almost entirely one giant high fence grid now. I can see them saying "far chase" on encinidas and a few others that are over 100,000 acres, but your right, 1000 acres penned in. For $15000 you can shoot a buck of a lifetime... gimme a break. Not to say im against paying for a good time and a hunting experience, Rebisz will be the first to point that out about me, but high fence is for yuppy doctors who have to get what they pay for.
"Not to say im against paying for a good time."
Larry, is that in reference to hunting, or to what I was saying about girls at clubs and bars?
I agree with you guys that hunting caged deer is stupid. But, in my opinion it goes back to hunting becoming all about antlers for many people. What do antlers really prove if you hunted someone else's deer, on soneone else's property, and from someone else's stand and bait pile. All you had to do was shoot your gun (or bow) straight. Pretty much anyone can do that with minimal practice. It proves absolutely nothing of your hunting abilities. This is my problem with paid hunts and hunting caged in deer. Shooting a huge buck means nothing...I'm not impressed.
Some of us hunt for big antlers, not just deer.
So...it all boils down to the question of the big rack. To me it just seems that the bigger they get the harder it is to figure out what to do with them.
