I went out this mourning and saw 14 deer. I was standing up and glassing in the bean field behind me and I heard a buck grunting, I turned around and saw 2 deer run into the corn about 75 yards away. I didn't get a good look at the buck but I knew he was pretty small. So I bleated a few times to try and keep the doe in the area. About 5 min later I saw this monster walk out of the corn. I grunted and he started posturing and side steppin towards me, I didn't know how tall his tines were but figured he was about 19" wide so I knew he was a shooter. He started walking towards me and then smelled where the doe ran into the corn a few min. Earlier and ran into the corn. I heard deer running towards me so I got ready then all of the sudden the doe busted out the side of the corn and started to run across the field away from me with the buck on her tail. She got about 50 yards into the field and me heart sank. Then all at once she turned on a dime and came running rate at me. I came to full draw, she jumped the ditch and ran through the corn about 15 yards away. I had me pin fixed on the bucks front shoulder as he was running at me he jumped the ditch and I bleated with my mouth to stop him, but he didn't even slow down. I bleated 3 more times each one louder than the previous but he didn't stop, at this time he was broadside at 15 yards so I put the pin on his shoulder and squeezed! wack! I heard the arrow hit and seen it ruffle his fur rate behind his shoulder. He ran through the corn and dropped about 60 yards away. I got down and went to pick up my dad. I knew he was down but I wanted him there to track it with me. The buck has a 19" outside spread just as I guessed, and is very thick all the way through, he has 11 points. ( 14 if you count the red-neck way) I think he is 3 1/2. I weighed him at work and live weight was 204. My best yet with a bow! I love the rut.
Good luck! Scott
